Getting started

macOS Gatekeeper blocks apps that aren't from the Mac App Store by default. To open FruitConnect for the first time:

  1. Right-click (or Control-click) the app icon in your Applications folder.
  2. Choose Open from the menu.
  3. Click Open in the dialog that appears.

You only need to do this once. On macOS 13 and later you can also go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway next to the FruitConnect entry.

FruitConnect asks for two permissions:

  • Screen Recording — to capture your Mac's display and stream it to your Quest.
  • Accessibility — to forward mouse and keyboard input from your Quest controllers back to your Mac.

Both can be granted in System Settings → Privacy & Security. Your screen content is never sent to our servers — it goes directly to your Quest.

Search for FruitConnect in the Meta Store on your Quest headset or in the Meta Horizon app on your phone. Install it, open it, and it will be ready to connect to your Mac.

Connection & pairing

Both your Mac and Quest need to be on the same Wi-Fi network. A few things to check:

  • Make sure FruitConnect is running on your Mac (look for the icon in the menu bar).
  • Some routers have AP isolation or client isolation enabled — this blocks devices from seeing each other. Check your router settings and disable it if possible.
  • If you're on a corporate or guest network, these often block device-to-device traffic. Use a personal hotspot or a standard home network instead.

Remote connection uses a one-time pairing process:

  1. Open FruitConnect on your Mac and go to the remote pairing section.
  2. A QR code and a pairing code will appear.
  3. On your Quest, choose Connect remotely and either scan the QR code or type the pairing code.

Once paired, future remote connections happen automatically — you won't need to scan or type again.

A few things that commonly help:

  • Use Wi-Fi 6 or a 5 GHz network if possible — 2.4 GHz is more prone to congestion and latency.
  • Move closer to your router — especially with the Quest on your head, signal strength matters.
  • Close other apps on your Mac that use the GPU or network heavily.
  • For remote connections, latency depends on your internet speed on both ends. A stable upload of at least 10 Mbps on the Mac side is recommended.

License & account

The free plan includes 15-minute sessions. To get unlimited sessions, upgrade to Pro or Organization.

Your admin will send you a personal activation code. Open FruitConnect on your Mac, go to the license section, and paste the code. Your Mac will be activated immediately — one code per Mac.

Each member of your organization gets their own activation code — one per Mac. If someone switches to a new Mac, your admin can revoke the old code and issue a new one.

FruitConnect validates your license online every 60 minutes. If it can't reach the server it will continue working for 7 days. After that it reverts to the free plan until it can reconnect.

Simply reconnect to the internet and relaunch FruitConnect — your license will be restored automatically.
