Yes. FruitConnect streams the screen of a Mac you already own to your Quest — it is not a standalone desktop. There is no Windows or PC version. You install a small free companion app on the Mac and pair the two once.
You need an Apple Silicon Mac — M1 or newer — running macOS 14 Sonoma or later. Intel Macs are not supported; the companion app cannot start on them.
Quest 2, Quest Pro, Quest 3 and Quest 3S.
Free gives you 30 minutes of streaming per day — over USB, your local Wi-Fi, or over the internet from anywhere — and the allowance resets every 24 hours. Every connection is encrypted and peer-to-peer on both plans. Pro removes the time limit, and that is the only difference.
FruitConnect asks for two permissions:
Both can be granted in System Settings → Privacy & Security. Your screen content is never sent to our servers — it goes directly to your Quest.
Search for FruitConnect in the Meta Store on your Quest headset or in the Meta Horizon app on your phone. Install it, open it, and it will be ready to connect to your Mac.
Yes. You can open a second Mac in a parallel session and keep both on screen at once — your home Mac and your work Mac side by side. Two parallel sessions is the maximum.
Yes. A friend pairs their own Quest with your Mac using a 6-digit code or QR scan, and you approve every connection — full control, view-only, or deny. Only one person controls the Mac at a time; everyone else watches. Voice chat is included, microphones start muted, and you can mute, hand over control or remove a guest at any point.
Privacy Mode dims your Mac’s own screen while you work in the headset, and it switches itself on the first time you connect. One limitation: monitors that do not support DDC brightness control cannot be dimmed, so those screens can still show your Mac’s content.
Yes. FruitConnect can install a virtual microphone so meeting apps hear your headset and your guests. It is optional and only needs installing once — macOS will ask for your administrator password, and Mac audio pauses for a second or two during the install. You can skip it and add it later from the menu bar.
Yes — anything that plays on your Mac plays on the floating panel, and you can size it as large as you like. Note that some streaming services block screen capture of protected video, so a title that refuses to appear in a normal screen recording will not appear here either.
Both your Mac and Quest need to be on the same Wi-Fi network. A few things to check:
Remote connection uses a one-time pairing process:
Once paired, future remote connections happen automatically — you won't need to scan or type again.
A few things that commonly help:
Pro is sold through the Meta Store, so Meta handles billing, cancellation and refunds — manage the subscription from your Meta account. If it lapses, FruitConnect returns to the free plan at the next licence check.
The free plan includes 30 minutes of streaming per day, and the allowance resets every 24 hours. For unlimited use, upgrade to Pro. Organization is currently in early access — get in touch if you want to join.
Organization is in early access — the flow below describes how it works once you're onboarded.
Your admin will send you a personal activation code. Open FruitConnect on your Mac, go to the license section, and paste the code. Your Mac will be activated immediately — one code per Mac.
Each member of your organization gets their own activation code — one per Mac. If someone switches to a new Mac, your admin can revoke the old code and issue a new one.
FruitConnect validates your license online every 60 minutes. If it can't reach the server it will continue working for 7 days. After that it reverts to the free plan until it can reconnect.
Simply reconnect to the internet and relaunch FruitConnect — your license will be restored automatically.
